Demke DC/DC Converter automotive EMC tested

Galvanically isolated Demke DC/DC buck-boost converter, 13.8VDC supply voltage of a generator and 57VDC charging end voltage for Li-Ion battery applications.

The DC-Transformer 729-57-SD was specially developed as a Li-Ion battery charging converter. The primary supply is the generator with the 13.8V supply voltage or the car battery with 12VDC voltage. Due to its usage in vehicles, this galvanically isolated DC-DC converter is automotive EMC certified according to EN50498:2010 (product family standard for electronic devices which are retrofitted in vehicles).

As with all our Demke DC-Transformers, the power density is impressive, but it is significantly limited by the high input current of 40A. Like all Demke DC/DC converters, the 729s are also broadband filtered, which we illustrate impressively with the radiated broadband electromagnetic interference in the chart below.

The limit values in the range from 30MHz to 1GHz are far from being affected.

Our second version of the 729 DC/DC Converter will be available shortly. The flexibility was optimised, so it is very easy now to realise battery charging converters with DC supplies of the generator optimised to 13.8V or car battery with charging end voltages of 28V, 96V or 144V.

Please note that even the supply voltage can be extended to 2x13.8V.

Notes to the power: up to 0.8KW, galvanically isolated is possible. Just consider the maximum input current as limiting factor. Also consider that our Demke DC/DC converters can be connected in parallel.
