Performance Upgrade - Demke DC-Transformer 154DH-12-On

Performance Upgrade DC-Transformer 154DH-12-On, Non-isolated DC/DC step down converter with 12VDC, 17A output

Non-isolated DC/DC step down converter with 12VDC, 17A output

This performance upgrade includes a power increase of 20W with a simultaneous noise reduction.

Demke DC-transformer have always been optimised for maximum efficiency with minimum interference emission - we continue to pursue this goal consistently.

The DC-Transformer 154DH-12-On is one of the non-isolated step-down DC/DC converters of the buck - 100 series. Due to the 1:10 wide range input with 16 to 160 VDC input voltage, this dc-dc converter is perfectly suited as 12V power supply in battery electric systems with supply voltages of 24V, 48V, 80V, 96V and 110V. Supercapacitor powered electrical systems are also one part of the application area.

Thanks to the use of state-of-the-art components, we are able to offer the 154DH with 12V output with 10% more power in the future while increasing the output current from 15A to 17A.

The DC/DC converter with 12V and 17A delivers a constant current of up to 19A in the short circuit mode, even with the 1:10 ultra-wide range input of 16 - 160VDC. The decrease of the output voltage will take place at almost 18A, plus a tolerance of +/-5%.

These details can be understood even better while visualizing them on our new characteristic curve plots.

Furthermore, the plots of the efficiency at constant voltage and at constant current are shown in detail.

The switch-on threshold and the undervoltage logout threshold have been slightly adjusted and will come at about 15V and 13.5V respectively.

State-of-the-art high current filters further reduce input and output noise. The output voltage slew rate is typically 70-80 MV*Hz at a measuring bandwidth of 500MHz.

Various refinements and adaptations in constant current operation greatly simplify the parallel connection of several dc-dc converters. Power balancing or power sharing have been further improved due to the revolutionary constant current measurement.

We are already giving a preview of the galvanically non-isolated DC/DC converter with 12V or 13.8V output at 60A in the FMC 130x130x28, which will go into series production in winter 2020.
