764-24-SD – 500 W DC/DC Converter with Ultra-Wide Input Range
The Demke 764-24-SD is a galvanically isolated buck-boost DC/DC converter designed for demanding applications with highly variable or different DC supply voltages. Its key feature is the exceptionally wide input voltage range of 20 to 160 VDC. Across this broad operating range, the converter provides a stable regulated output of 24 VDC at up to 21 A, corresponding to an output power of 500 W.
The ultra-wide input range allows the converter to be used across a wide variety of battery systems, vehicles and industrial DC networks. Voltage variations caused by state of charge, load changes, charging conditions or different operating points can be handled over an exceptionally broad range. This makes it possible to maintain a stable 24 V supply even when the available input voltage changes significantly during operation.
At the same time, the wide input voltage range can reduce the number of converter variants required within a machine, vehicle platform or product family. Different battery voltages and system architectures can potentially be covered by a common DC/DC converter platform, simplifying system design, reducing product variants and improving spare-parts management and future platform development.
With galvanic isolation, CC/CV control and support for active loads, the 764-24-SD provides additional flexibility for battery and charging systems. Multiple converters can also be operated in parallel, enabling higher output power or modular power architectures.
The 764-24-SD is particularly suitable for battery-powered systems, material-handling vehicles, intralogistics, mobile machinery, e-mobility, energy storage systems, charging applications and industrial DC power networks. Its wide input range is especially beneficial in applications using different battery configurations or where the supply voltage can vary significantly during operation.
For reliable operation in demanding environments, the power electronics are fully encapsulated in polyurethane and integrated into a rugged aluminium enclosure. The potting compound protects the electronics against moisture, contamination, vibration and other environmental influences while also providing efficient thermal coupling to the housing. The converter is designed for ambient temperatures from -40 °C to +85 °C and achieves an efficiency of up to 95 %.
